SUKKUR: Central stalwart of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and former leader of opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah has said that Pakistan would have to change its foreign policy to strengthen its economy and provide ample opportunities to investors.

Talking to reporters after inauguration of a flower show titled ‘An Evening With Flowers’ at Sukkur Institute of Business Administration (IBA) University as chief guest late on Sunday evening, he said Pakistan should not do anything to enrage its neighbouring countries.

He said that it was the stance of the PPP that national institutions should work within their parameters for betterment in the country; they were required to work in line with the powers given to them under the law.

Criticising the attitude of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), he said it (NAB) maintained “double standards” as NAB officials took accused Aleem Khan of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in a bulletproof vehicle while Agha Siraj Durrani of the PPP was taken in an APC.

Mr Shah said Fawad Chaudhry would not submit his resignation to Imran Khan and if he did submit his resignation, it would be no less than a wonder.

Appreciating the flower show, the PPP leader said people would have to work on a war footing by planting maximum trees for elimination of environmental pollution. Later, the chief guest awarded commendation certificates and cash rewards to gardeners including Saifullah Mirani, Amjad Ali, Abdul Shakoor, Rajab Ali, Abdul Waheed, Khuda Bux and others.

Head gardener Khuda Bux received a cash reward of Rs50, 000 while others were given Rs10, 000 each.

The event was also attended by Sukkur Mayor Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh, former MPA Dr Nasrullah Baloch, Sukkur IBA University Vice Chancellor Prof Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui, Deputy Commissioner Ghulam Murtaza Shaikh and a large number of faculty members, students and people from all walks of life.
