Suspect takes his own life after killing 7 in Joliet shooting

Authorities said Monday that the suspect involved in the shootings that killed seven people in two different Joliet, Illinois residences has been found dead, ABC News reported.

Earlier, the police said they were looking for a suspect they identified as Romeo Nance, 23 after they discovered the bodies of five victims in one home and another two in a nearby residence on West Acres Road.

Nance, was reportedly “driving a Red Toyota Camry with the license plate Q730412 and should be considered armed and dangerous,” said the police.

Late Monday night, the police said Nance had been located by US Marshals near Natalia, Texas, and it was believed that he “took his own life with a handgun following a confrontation with Texas law enforcement officials.”

According to the local authorities, officials responded to the residences along West Acres Road, where multiple people with gunshot injuries were found dead.

“The information remains fluid and ever-changing as this investigation progresses,” a Facebook post late Monday afternoon by authorities read.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office said that it was attempting to locate the same vehicle in connection with two additional shootings that occurred on Sunday.

According to authorities, at around 4:27 pm, officers responded to a shooting at the Pheasant Run Apartments in unincorporated Joliet Township and found a man bleeding from the head with an apparent gunshot wound. 

The victim — identified as 28-year-old Toyosi Bakare — was pronounced dead after he was transported to an area hospital.

Jungle said, “he was originally from Nigeria and had been in Will County for the past three years.”
