Some people are planning to repeat the May 9 events, warned Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday, as he said that the intelligence agencies had the evidence of the attempts.
Talking to reporters in Lahore, Naqvi said the intelligence agencies had recorded the discussions held among such elements on the subject and made it clear that there would be a strong reaction if anyone tried to replicate the May 9 violence.
He said anyone having objections over the Feb 8 polls results should approach the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and added that the government would not allow repeating the May 9.
No one would be stopped from staging peaceful political protest which was a democratic right, Naqvi said, but stated that the violent actions were unacceptable and the government could not allow creating further divisions among the nation.
It was the PTI which had carried out attacks on the military and other government installations after the arrest of their party chief and the party is now busy in levelling rigging allegations despite having a massive win in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and sizeable seats in Punjab.
