SWABI: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser inaugurated several projects, including expansion of Swabi-Mardan road, here on Friday.
Speaking at a gathering held to inaugurate the projects, the chief minister said that the previous provincial government of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf had delivered according to the people’s expectations and that was why they voted the party to power again.
He said that there was no place for corrupt rulers in the country. Referring to JUI-F’s Islamabad sit-in, he said that the chapter of Maulana (Fazlur Rehman) had been closed. He said that the power hungry leaders were rejected by the people in 2018 elections.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Qaiser said that the government was giving top priority to bringing prices of essential commodities down. “We have adopted a mechanism which would result in drop in the prices of essential commodities,” he claimed.
CM, NA speaker inaugurate uplift projects in Swabi
He criticised the opposition parties for unleashing what he called a propaganda campaign against the government. He said that the previous governments had failed to give attention to strengthening of the country’s economy.
The officials of communication and works department said that the project for expansion of 47-kilomtre Swabi-Mardan road would cost Rs10 billion and its two lanes would be enough to absorb the increasing traffic and facilitate transportation of goods. The project financed by the Asian Development Bank will be completed in three years. There are 11 bridges and one underpass in the road project and it would be linked with the Swat Motorway.
Earlier, the chief minister and the speaker visited the GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology and exchanged views with its rector Engineer Jehangir Bashar and other officials.
They inaugurated the completed project of tehsil headquarters hospital, Topi, which had been upgraded to category C. However, the required staff is yet to be provided to the hospital by the health department.
They also inaugurated the construction of government girls degree college, Topi, establishment of Rescue 1122 and subdivision office of gas at tehsil level. The college building would cost Rs80 million and the Rescue 1122 project Rs40.66 million.
Later, they went to Razaar and inaugurated the upgradation of tehsil headquarters hospital, Kalu Khan, to category C which would cost Rs550 million.
Federal minister Ali Mohammad Khan attended the Razaar tehsil gathering while provincial minister for local government Shahram Khan Tarakai and other leaders spoke on the occasion.
