LAHORE: In a surprise move, the Punjab government has again appointed DIG Tahir Rai as head of the Counter Terrorism Department, Punjab.
He took charge as additional IG CTD here on Wednesday after the Punjab police department issued a notification.
Tahir Rai was removed from the post in the wake of the Sahiwal incidentin which four persons, including three members of a family, were allegedly shot dead while three minor children were injured.
The family head Khalil of Lahore was going to attend a marriage ceremony of his relative when he was targeted by the CTD police.
The Punjab government had made Tahir Rai officer on special duty (OSD) after it transpired that head of the family, his wife and minor daughter were innocent and had nothing to do with any terrorist organization.
The appointment of Tahir Rai as head of the CTD has been made when judicial inquiry is underway.
