Omar Ayub has been nominated for key role of PM by PTI

Omar Ayub has been nominated as a potential candidate for the office of prime minister by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

PTI leader and former speaker of the National Assembly, Asad Qaiser, revealed the name of Omar Ayub as a key candidate for the prime minister position, while Aqib Khan has been nominated for the office of speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

While talking to the media outside Adiala jail, Asad announced plans to engage in discussions with all political parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Awami National Party (ANP), and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam. He also hinted at protesting against the Feb 8 polls result, stating that PTI’s mandate was stolen.

The former speaker of the National Assembly pledged to sit in the National assembly and to conduct a parliamentary session in a day or two.

Asad Qaiser shared the statements of PTI founder after meeting him in Adiala jail with the approval of Islamabad High Court’s order. Asad Qaisar and PTI founder discussed matters related to political alliances, the new government, and the political situation in the meeting.

The nominated candidate for the prime minister position, Omar Ayub Khan, is a seasoned politician from Haripur, KP. He is the grandson of General Muhammad Ayub Khan.

After the PTI’s victory in the 2018 elections, Omar Ayub Khan was appointed as the Federal Minister for Power Division in the cabinet of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Befor joining PTI, he contested the 2013 elections on PML-N ticktet but remain unsuccessful but served as Chairman Standing Committee on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs after winning by-elections in 2014.

In 2008, he penned a report entitled Roles and Responsibilities of MNAs for the Islamabad-based pro-democracy think tank Pildat.
