John Cena doubts rob Gronkowski’s Super Bowl Kick, but believes he could nail it

In a playful exchange about an upcoming Super Bowl stunt, John Cena expresses doubt about Rob Gronkowski’s ability to make a planned field goal kick, People Magazine reported.

The banter unfolds as part of a FanDuel ad campaign, featuring the wrestler-turned-actor and the retired NFL star in a face-off over Gronkowski’s kicking prowess.

Cena, 47, humorously points to Gronkowski’s miss in last year’s attempt, dubbing it the “Kick of Destiny.” Despite a planned do-over in front of a live audience in Las Vegas, Cena remains sceptical, stating: “He missed last year. And I think he’s going to miss this year.” FanDuel’s campaign invites fans to place a free pick on whether Gronkowski will succeed or fail.

The commercials leading up to the kick feature Gronkowski, dishevelled after his previous miss, being coached by an unlikely mentor, Carl Weathers.

Weathers believes Gronkowski can make the kick, while Cena, playing the role of Gronkowski’s “arch-nemesis,” disagrees. Fans can align with either Weathers or Cena in making their predictions.

Cena, who enjoyed working with Gronkowski despite the scripted rivalry, reflects on their shared connections, including the NFL star’s brief celebrity stint in WWE and his three Super Bowl wins with Cena’s hometown team, the New England Patriots.

As fans anticipate Gronkowski’s kick moments before Super Bowl LVIII, Cena adds a playful challenge.

If a hypothetical “Kick of Destiny 3” puts Cena to the test, he confidently says, “I do think I could make it,” attributing his ability to deliver when it counts. Cena’s humour and confidence add an entertaining twist to the build-up, making the FanDuel campaign an exciting prelude to the Super Bowl event.
