Pakistan

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Gohar hopes that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will announce its verdict according to the wishes of people.

Speaking to media in Islamabad, he said the people of Pakistan gave their verdict on Feb 8 and now the ECP should follow the suit.

“We always respect the decision of the ECP but the commission failed to safeguard our constitutional rights,” the PTI leader said.

He urged the ECP to announce the verdict of reserved seats in a transparent manner.

He added that 86 PTI-backed independents had joined the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) in the National Assembly while 107 MPAs joined the SIC in the Punjab Assembly.

“As many as 90 MPAs from KP and nine MPAs from Sindh have joined the Sunni Ittehad Council,” Barrister Gohar said.

He was of the view that the session of National Assembly could not be convened till the allotment of reserved seats.

Meanwhile, SIC chief Sahibzada Hamid Raza said the woman who stole the mandate of people had been made the chief minister of the largest province.

Earlier, the ECP adjourned till tomorrow (Wednesday) hearing on pleas relating to inclusion of PTI-backed independents in the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) and allotment of reserved seats.
