Washington / New York: The United States has submitted a proposal to the U.N. Security Council (UNSC) seeking approval for the establishment of an International Security Force (ISF) in Gaza, to be deployed for a minimum of two years.

According to the U.S. news outlet Axios, Washington has circulated a draft resolution among UNSC member states outlining the structure, powers, and mandate of the proposed force.

As per the draft, the ISF would be created in consultation with the Gaza Board of Peace, chaired by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The proposed force would be tasked with securing Gaza’s borders, protecting civilians and aid corridors, training Palestinian police, and demilitarizing the region.

The ISF would have the authority to take all necessary measures under international law to fulfill its mandate.

The report emphasizes that this would be an enforcement force, not a traditional peacekeeping mission. Its primary goal would be to provide transitional security in Gaza, facilitating a gradual Israeli withdrawal while the Palestinian Authority undertakes internal reforms to assume administrative control.
