New Delhi: While India dreams of hosting the Olympic Games, stray dogs have taken over the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, raising serious safety and image concerns during the World Para Athletics Championships.
According to Indian media reports, two foreign coaches were attacked and bitten by stray dogs during the event, marking the fifth such incident since the championship began.
The victims have been identified as Kenya’s coach Denis Mwanzo and Japan’s assistant coach Miko Otomatsu, both of whom sustained injuries from the dog attacks.
Earlier, a security guard and two Indian nationals were also bitten in similar incidents, exposing the alarming lack of safety measures in place at the international venue.
These recurring incidents have not only tarnished India’s global sporting image but also cast doubt on its preparedness to host major international competitions such as the Olympics.
