GAZA / JERUSALEM (International Desk):
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has announced its readiness to act as a humanitarian mediator for the exchange of hostages in Gaza and prisoners held in Israel, emphasizing its commitment to easing human suffering and reuniting families separated by the conflict.
An ICRC spokesperson stated, “Our role is purely humanitarian. We are prepared to assist any process that helps protect lives and bring relief to those affected by this prolonged war.”
Meanwhile, the campaign group advocating for the return of hostages in Gaza has called on the international community to nominate U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, praising his efforts to broker a ceasefire and facilitate prisoner exchanges between Israel and Hamas.
According to the group, Trump’s renewed peace initiative has created “a genuine opportunity to end the suffering of innocent civilians” and could mark a turning point in the Middle East conflict.
International observers note that if the current round of negotiations succeeds, it could lead to one of the most significant diplomatic breakthroughs in recent years.
