Over Rs 42.5 Million Recovered from NCCIA Officers Arrested in Corruption Case

Pakistan

Lahore: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has revealed that more than Rs 42.5 million have been recovered from officials of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Authority (NCCIA) arrested on charges of bribery and misuse of authority.

According to details submitted in a local court on Friday, FIA investigators stated that during interrogation, Rs 42,548,000 were seized from the accused officers.

The report noted that Rs 12.5 million were recovered from Additional Director Chaudhry Sarfraz, Rs 7 million from Sub-Inspector Ali Raza, and Rs 3.6 million from Assistant Director Shoaib Riaz. Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Yasir Ramzan had Rs 1.9 million, and Deputy Director Zawar Ahmed had Rs 0.9 million in illegal possession.

The FIA prosecutor requested an additional 14-day physical remand for further investigation, citing the need to trace financial trails and potential accomplices. However, after hearing arguments, the judicial magistrate approved a three-day extension of their remand.

Officials said the arrests were part of a wider crackdown on corruption within federal agencies, with internal audits and forensic analyses underway to determine the full extent of the alleged network of bribery.
