Gaza: Israel has reinstated the ceasefire in Gaza following a series of massive airstrikes that killed 42 Palestinians, according to Palestinian officials who confirmed the development to Arab media.
Talks are reportedly underway to establish a mechanism to prevent future ceasefire violations, with Egypt, Turkey, Qatar, and the United States mediating between the two sides.
Israeli forces carried out heavy air raids in southern Gaza, targeting what they claimed were Hamas positions, but the strikes also hit civilian areas, displaced persons’ camps, and the Nuseirat refugee camp. The northwestern Khan Younis region suffered severe damage, with dozens of homes destroyed.
Hamas has rejected Israel’s claims, stating that the attacks were deliberate attempts to reignite the conflict under false pretenses.
Since October 10, the date of the previous ceasefire announcement, 98 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks, according to local authorities.
Following the latest airstrikes, the Israeli military announced that the ceasefire has been reinstated across Gaza.
