Washington, D.C. – Following a shooting incident near the White House in which an Afghan national opened fire on National Guard personnel, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a sweeping restriction on migration. Trump stated that the United States will “permanently halt” immigration from all so-called “third world” countries.
While the president did not provide details on the implementation or timeline of this ban, he described it as necessary for the “complete restoration of the American system.” Trump said, “Uncontrolled migration has weakened American society and strained our resources. Until the system is stabilized, no new immigrants from these countries will be allowed entry.”
The announcement comes after the U.S. government halted processing all immigration applications from Afghan nationals and ordered a review of cases for individuals from 19 countries who hold green cards or permanent residency in the United States.
President Trump also warned that citizenship could be revoked for immigrants deemed to threaten domestic peace, and any foreign national involved in criminal activity or considered a security risk may face deportation.
