BJP Demands Ban on Muslim Admissions at Mata Vaishno Devi University in Jammu & Kashmir

Jammu & Kashmir – India’s ruling party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has called for a ban on Muslim students’ admissions at Mata Vaishno Devi University in Jammu & Kashmir.

The demand comes after 42 Muslim candidates out of 50 successfully passed recent entrance exams. BJP leaders rejected the list of successful candidates and submitted a memorandum to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, which was officially received by his office.

The memorandum, submitted at a sensitive time following the identification of an alleged Kashmiri doctor as a suspect in the recent Red Fort blast in New Delhi, calls for all admissions at the university to be reserved exclusively for Hindus.

On Saturday, BJP leader Sunil Sharma led a five-member delegation to present the memorandum to the Lieutenant Governor in Jammu. Sinha, who also serves as the university’s chancellor, has not yet issued any instructions to the university authorities regarding this demand.
