Karachi: The Karachi Traffic Police have intensified their crackdown on traffic violations, issuing 5,791 electronic challans within the last 24 hours, taking the total number of e-challans over the past four days to 18,733.
According to traffic police officials, between Wednesday midnight and Thursday midnight, 3,546 e-challans were issued for not wearing seat belts, 1,555 for riding motorcycles without helmets, 325 for running red lights, 166 for using mobile phones while driving, and 65 for over-speeding.
Additionally, 40 e-challans were issued for tinted windows, 19 for no-parking violations, 13 for wrong-way driving, 9 for overloading, and 6 for improperly loaded vehicles.
A police spokesperson stated that the electronic challan system represents a major step toward ensuring adherence to traffic laws and enhancing real-time monitoring across the city. The spokesperson further emphasized that public cooperation is vital for the success of this initiative.
Citizens are urged to strictly follow traffic rules to help improve the city’s traffic flow and reduce road accidents.
