Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court Issues Third Non-Bailable Arrest Warrant for Aleema Khan

Pakistan

Rawalpindi: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has issued a third non-bailable arrest warrant for Aleema Khan, the sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, ordering police to arrest and present her before the court on October 22.

The case, related to the November 26 protest, was heard by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah. Aleema Khan is among 11 accused named in the case.

During the proceedings, 10 co-accused appeared before the court, while five prosecution witnesses also presented the case property. However, Aleema Khan’s continued absence led the court to issue her third non-bailable arrest warrant.

The court also issued non-bailable warrants for her guarantor, Umar Sharif, and directed the Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi to verify the guarantor’s property documents.

A heavy contingent of female police officers was deployed outside the court before the hearing.
The prosecutor argued that Aleema Khan’s repeated absence warrants the cancellation of her bail.

On the other hand, the defense counsel maintained that the warrants were illegal and unjustified, arguing that a one-sided indictment is unlawful since the anti-terrorism charges have already been challenged and are under judicial review.
