Islamabad (Web Desk): The government has decided to take the Parliament into confidence regarding the Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement (SMDA) signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
According to parliamentary sources, the National Assembly session has been proposed for September 29, and a summary has been sent to the Prime Minister. During the session, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif will deliver a policy statement on the pact.
The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has forwarded the summary to ensure the assembly is briefed on this significant development.
It is worth mentioning that on September 17, during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Crown Prince and the Pakistani Prime Minister signed the defense pact.
As per the joint declaration, any aggression against one country will be considered aggression against both, thereby strengthening the defense ties between the two brotherly Islamic nations.
