PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department has issued new rules and regulations for hunting ducks and waterfowl, imposing strict restrictions across the province.
According to the official notification, hunting has been completely banned in dams, lakes, ponds, and barrages until December 31, 2025. A total of 57 dams, lakes, and river areas have been declared no-hunting zones, and legal action will be taken against violators.
Hunting will only be permitted at designated locations, where species such as the Northern Pintail, Common Teal, Mallard, and other waterfowl can be hunted. Each licensed hunter will be allowed to hunt a maximum of five water birds per day.
The revised fee structure includes:
- Rs. 8,000 for a live duck
- Rs. 2,000 license fee for an unprotected duck
- Rs. 1,500 annual license fee for a hunting dog
- Rs. 500 per day for a special duck-hunting gun
The Wildlife Department further clarified that hunting before first light and after sunset is strictly prohibited. Additionally, the use of electronic devices and call birds during hunting has been banned.
Officials said the new rules are aimed at protecting migratory birds and conserving wildlife resources in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
